Hear me out on the new rule change (r/OnePieceTCGFinance Mod)
Hey everyone. I’m sure I’m already getting downvoted as I type this, but I feel like I need to say it anyway. I care a lot about this hobby, and I think this matters. This might also be my last post here, which honestly sucks since I've been posting here for a long time. I genuinely believe the new rule banning anyone who posts in “finance” related subreddits is dangerous, and the way it was rolled out feels really off. So yes, I am a mod at r/OnePieceTCGFinance . I do enjoy thinking about values of collectible cards. But I've also been watching One Piece for 15 years. I also go to locals twice a week (currently playing RP Roger). And I also have an awesome Zoro collection that I love looking at. The point I'm trying to make is that not everyone who enjoys the finance side of the hobby is a scalper, flipper or just here to make a quick buck off hype. I want the TCG to succeed and I do everything I can, when I can, to help the hobby grow. Here's why I disagree with the new rule: 1. This rule rolled out based on a poll that only a tiny percentage of the subreddit actually voted in. Less than 1% of the sub voted and the poll was held over Christmas. That alone should raise some red flags. Collateral damage is going to be huge. Being active in finance focused subs doesn't automatically mean someone is a scalper. A lot of people post their hits, collections, ask price questions. Cards having value is good!! Players can win tournaments, make money and take the competitive scene more serious because people want to buy these cards for a high price. Card value is part of what makes a healthy TCG work. Without it you get where YuGiOh is now. I fundamentally disagree with censorship and control. Even if you're a player who hates any discussion of card value, you shouldn't want anyone deciding where you're allowed to participate online. This should make everyone uncomfortable. I've said it elsewhere but this feels less like moderating "bad behavior" and more like a purity test. This is very likely good for the finance subreddit. More people treating it as their home base as well as less trolling. But that's not important, what I really care about is the long term health of the hobby and community. Thanks for reading! Much love everyone, even if you disagree with me. submitted by /u/Vainzilla [link] [comments]
